Chrysler Group Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle November sales soar
Through the first 11 months of 2006, the Chrysler Group?s Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPOV) sales have grown at a rate five times quicker than the overall industry?s CPO growth, which stands at a modest two percent this year. A record 107,271 Chrysler units have sold through November of this year via Chrysler?s ?Five Star? dealer network, a 10-percent YTD increase. In November alone sales were 9,457, also up 10 percent compared with November of 2005.
A total of 2,876 Chrysler brand CPO vehicles were sold in November 2006 representing a 12-percent month-to-month increase compared with 2005. The Chrysler Pacifica crossover SUV ? a vehicle that never really took off from new ? jumped 80 percent.
November Jeep brand CPO sales climbed 31 percent month-to-month, totaling 2,618. Strong sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Liberty, up 25 and 27 percent respectively, bolstered the off-road brand. Dodge brand sales actually declined marginally, as the 3,963 units accounted for a two percent drop.
Chrysler?s Certified Pre-Owned program requires each vehicle candidate be between model year 2003 and 2007, have less than 65,000 miles and pass a 125-point comprehensive inspection. Once certified, CPO Chryslers include an eight-year/80,000-mile powertrain warranty. To achieve ?Five Star? status, dealers are required to undergo expansive evaluations covering operational processes, customer satisfactions surveys, salesperson and technician accreditation and dealership facilities. About 2,100 Chrysler dealers in the United States boast Five Star credentials, representing approximately half of the full dealer network.

Technical highlight: Chrysler?s new MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System
Available in the 2007 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro and Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler Group?s new MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System combines vehicle navigation, SIRIUS satellite radio with real-time traffic reporting, music storage and playback, photograph storage and hands-free communication into one integrated package. Voice activation and touch screen control are also featured.
A 20-gigabyte hard drive allows hard-drive based navigation (rather than DVD) and space to store photos and music. Not only does MyGIG rip CDs to the hard drive, but it also allows importation via a USB 2.0 port. Gracenote file management is capable of automatically adding artist, song and album information to incoming files. Chrysler says up to 1,600 songs ? over 100 hours of music ? may be stored on the machine. Stored images may be converted to custom display backgrounds yielding personalized vehicle touches, similar to personal computer desktops.
Three audio output and two video output sources may be used simultaneously, and passengers can view video on the built-in screen when the vehicle's transmission is in Park. Chrysler?s system is unique in the industry for its integration of features, and arrives at a very affordable price point.

Chrysler Sebring marketing strategy utilizes various media outlets
Print advertisements and television spots are no longer sufficient in promoting new vehicles. Chrysler in particular believes that in order to sell the new 2007 Chrysler Sebring sedan various outlets must be employed. According to David Rooney, Director of Chrysler Marketing and Global Communications, "we're taking this all-new car into an environment where traditional TV and print ads are not enough to reach our target audiences because their media consumption habits are highly diverse.?
Chrysler will combine two television commercials and four print ads with many other marketing techniques, including internet search/homepage road blocks, podcasts, internet games, interactive CDs mailed to potential customers, sweepstakes and promotions, direct mail, special consumer events and an integration with Time magazine?s ?Person of the Year? and People magazine?s ?Sexiest Man Alive? awards.
