2007 Mitsubishi Outlander highlights: What differentiates it from the competition?
The 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander joins the growing crossover utility segment this year, challenging the competition to meet its advanced specifications. Several features distinguish the new Mitsubishi Outlander as revolutionary in its class.
A standard 3.0-liter V6 engine utilizes Mitsubishi Valve-timing Electric Control (MIVEC) to the tune of 220 horsepower and 204 foot-pounds of torque. Achieving up to 27 miles per gallon on the highway, the powertrain also earns a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV) rating in California. The advanced six-speed automatic transmission includes available paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for Formula One-inspired gear control.
Another genuine innovation is the aluminum roof structure. Although curb weight is only reduced by 11 pounds when compared with a steel unit, the Mitsubishi Outlander?s center of gravity is lowered significantly, yielding better handling characteristics. Driving dynamics are further supplemented by the advanced chassis, a platform to be shared with the upcoming all-new Mitsubishi Lancer (including the Evolution model).
