All-new 2008 Scion xD coming soon
The all-new 2008 Scion xD five-door hatchback replaces the subcompact Scion xA that went out of production after the 2006 model year. Much more aggressive in design and proportions than its predecessor, the xD promises a stylish, sporty driving experience accentuated by a clean, functional interior.
Music lovers have the choice of either the standard 160-watt Pioneer audio system with iPod connectivity or the premium audio system that adds the ability to display custom images and video clips on the stereo head unit. Additional outputs meant for external amplifiers are also included in premium trim for customers who wish to add more speakers and subwoofers seamlessly. Feature integrated into both audio offerings include Scion Sound Processing, Automatic Sound Leveling and Sound Retouch Technology.
All Scion xDs are powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). Horsepower rates at 128 in front of either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Other standard equipment includes power windows/locks/mirrors, remote keyless entry, four-wheel ABS, tire pressure monitoring, air conditioning, cruise control and six airbags (front, front side, curtain).

Scion recalls 30,000 tC coupes
Toyota?s youth division Scion has announced a recall on approximately 30,000 tC sports coupes to fix an issue related to side impact airbag deployment. Model year 2005 and 2005 Scion tC sold in the United States are affected, and about 20 percent of the production run requires the service.
Apparently, the airbags deploy inadvertently if the doors are slammed when the ignition in the ?on? position, or within 90 seconds of when the ignition was turned off. So far 17 incidents of accidental deployment have been reported, although no injuries have occurred. Next month Scion tC owners will receive notices and the issue will be fixed for free.
